It makes coffee and has very few problems An electric coffee maker doesn’t get any simpler than this. No programming, no clock, no LED readout, no beeping, no auto shut-off, no cleaning cycle, nothing but an on/off switch. I’m replacing my GE pot for two reasons. One is that the auto shut-off has quit working and it shuts off in one hour regardless of the setting. The other and more important is all the mineral deposits from our city water. The GE is one and a half years old and it’s interior appearance is offensive. Nothing seems to clean the deposits completely. It’s interior is unsightly and I wanted it replaced. My entire adult life I’ve always had coffee makers with all the bells and whistles so I decided I was going to go the simple route for once with some basic objectives in mind. I’ve described below how my assessment fared.Brew effectiveness: I use relatively high end coffee and I also own a French Press that produces the best cup of coffee or espresso on the planet. But I also need…
Just a few issues to overlook I unpacked this item and had one initial disappointment: the 12-cup carafe was smaller than my “Mr. Coffee” and “Black and Decker” pots (which were also, 12 cups). I filled the B&D carafe to the 4 cup line, poured that water into the new PS carafe, and the water sat at the 6-cup line. But I rarely brew 12 cups of coffee at a time, so I waived my refund rights, and moved on…for now.Another disappointment came after I brewed the coffee and realized I must add a bit more water to get the anticipated amount. The missing water must’ve been steamed away or stuck inside the hose. But I think this is a common problem that can be easily rectified. I can’t expect beams of light projecting from the thing, upon unpackaging; especially, since I did order “no frills” (and, who wants a frilly coffee maker, anyway?) I usually set everything up the night before, and turn it on the next morning. I’d hate for a kitchen appliance to dictate my rise-and-shine time,…
Happy I am quite pleased with this coffee maker. Among its many positive features is the well designed human interface. Most coffee makers have four or five buttons and figuring out which one to push is just about the last thing I want to do when I first wake up. This coffee maker has just one – no early morning systems analysis required, to start your coffee all you do is push it. Its almost thumb sized and in a bright red color. Its easy to find, unlike many appliances whose control systems have many buttons the same color as the rest of the unit, usually clustered around a digital readout that gives the time, weather, stock and commodity quotes, baseball statistics, etc. all selectable by additional hard to find buttons – when all I want is a cup of coffee! The functional human feedback system is also very good. When you push it to start your coffee, it goes “click”. The click is actually the real consequence of a mechanical event, that is, of pushing the…
