Big disappointment. Very disappointed. I have purchased many of the pump-based low-end espresso makers over the years. My basic conclusion has been that if you drink a lot of espresso, the low end units will only last you about a year. So, I consider them disposable and figure I’m out $100 bucks or so annually, or if I get lucky and the unit breaks before warranty expires then maybe I get a replacement and get close to two years out of my original purchase. Between my wife and I, we draw about 1500 cups a year, which seems to be the life cycle of these lower end machines.For the past few years, I have been using the Mr. Coffee ECMP50. For all its faults, it draws a solid cup of espresso. The issue is reliability. The units usually start leaking after about 6-8 months, and the boiler goes out w/in 12-14 months.So….I was super excited to try out this new Hamilton Beach 40792 unit.Aesthetically, the unit is very nice.
